Takom - 1/35 US WWII M29 Weasel Light Tracked Vehicle
Versatile tracked cargo & personnel carrier designed by British inventor and military strategist Geoffrey Pyke for use in Project Plough, a daring plan to attack Axis forces in Norway using a fleet of tracked vehicles. Small enough to be transported by aircraft, light enough to be dropped by parachute, powerful enough to carry a 1200lb load, able to travel at least 25mph and climb a 45° angle. Nicknamed Weasel, the M29 was built by Studebaker on converted automobile production lines at South Bend Indiana and powered by the Studebaker Champion 6-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 70hp. with its light weight and broad tracks Weasels operated efficiently in snow, deep mud, swampland, sand or paved highways. More than 15,000 Weasels were built, receiving praise wherever they went, in the event not to glacial Norway, but on the Normandy beaches, in the Pacific at Iwo Jima, Leyte and Okinawa, and later in Korea and Vietnam.
