Anigrand Craftswork - 1/72 Nakajima B4N-1 Experimental 9-Shi Carrier Attack Aircraft. In April 1932, the Imperial Japanese Navy issued requirement for the new carrier attack aircraft, which was intended to replace the Mitsubishi B2M1 type-89. Both the Mitsubishi and Nakajima were received order for the new aircraft development. Nakajima submitted the specification with tha B4N, that used a biplane configuaretion that had upper gull wings and lower inverted gull wing. In 1933, two B4N-1 prototypes had been completed and delivered to the IJN for testing and evaluation. The performance of the B4N was poor, in part because the powerplant did not possess the necessary horsepower to adequately propel such a large aircraft. The IJN lost all interest in pursuing 7-shi specification further. Instead, it would re-evaluate, and in 1934 it issued its 9-shi carrier attack aircraft in the hopes of abtaining a successful design.
